You’re a bit reluctant to change and new technologies, that’s what you have to say, but when something becomes indispensable in everyday life, it’s really hard to give up.\u00a0That’s why you, too, have long persisted, and you have finally convinced yourself and decided to replace your old modem that was just by cable with a nice device that can also generate a wireless network.\u00a0However, if you are here now and are reading these lines, it seems clear to me that you do not have the slightest idea how to connect to its WiFi.<\/p>\n
How do you say?\u00a0Things are exactly like this and you would like to know if I can give you a hand on what to do?\u00a0But of course, do not be afraid.\u00a0If you give me a few minutes of your precious time, I can, in a word and sign, have the steps you have to do to\u00a0connect to WiFi<\/strong>\u00a0, which I think is much simpler than what you can think of.<\/p>\n With this tutorial today, I will then show you how to connect to the wireless network generated by your modem, but also how to do the same with public networks or in any way with other people.\u00a0The procedure to do usual, a good read.<\/p>\n The first fundamental step you need to accomplish in order to connect to WiFi is to identify the password (if present, otherwise you do not need to put in place the steps in question) that protects your network.\u00a0Below you can find out how to do it if you want to find the password of your network (if you do not know it already, of course) than that of others (nothing illegal, do worry!).<\/p>\n If the WiFi network to which you want to connect is that your modem generates and if your default password has not been changed, you can easily find out the latter by looking at the\u00a0label<\/strong>\u00a0that is sticking directly or sideways to the device, or to\u00a0the user’s manual<\/strong>, see the dedicated section.<\/p>\n If you do this you will not be able to find out your modem’s password and if you’re always talking about the “serial” one, you can find it by accessing the device configuration panel.<\/p>\n To do this, open the browser you generally use to surf the Internet from your computer (eg\u00a0Chrome<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0\u00a0Firefox<\/strong>\u00a0) or any mobile device that you are using and type in the address bar,\u00a0192.168.0.1<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0192.168.1.1,<\/strong>\u00a0then click\u00a0Enter<\/strong>\u00a0key\u00a0on the keyboard.\u00a0At this point, you should be in front of a screen to enter the login data that protects the device management panel.<\/p>\n If this does not happen and you see an error message appearing instead, most likely the IP address previously typed is not the correct one for your modem.\u00a0To find out, you can take a closer look at the label attached to your device or user manual, or you can still locate it by “interrogating” your computer.<\/p>\n If you are using a Windows PC, to know the IP address to be able to access the modem control panel, type\u00a0\u00a0cmd<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0in the taskbar or accessible accessible search field by clicking the\u00a0Start<\/strong>\u00a0button that is attached to the taskbar\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0or, again , in the appropriate field that is accessible from the top right of the\u00a0\u00a0Start the\u00a0\u00a0Dock<\/strong>\u00a0, in the\u00a0Applications<\/strong>\u00a0folder,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0or access the\u00a0\u00a0Launchpad<\/strong>\u00a0) and then press on the\u00a0Network<\/strong>\u00a0item\u00a0\u00a0.\u00a0Then select the name of your connection and click on the\u00a0Advanced …<\/strong>\u00a0button at the bottom right.\u00a0Then go to the\u00a0\u00a0TCP \/ IP board<\/strong>\u00a0and you will find the address to which you must be connected next to the first\u00a0router<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Now if you have already found the correct IP address for your modem or if you have been able to find it by following the instructions for Windows and Mac I just provided you fill out the on-screen fields by typing the correct username and password combination that usually matches\u00a0\u00a0admin \/ admin<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0or\u00a0\u00a0admin \/ password<\/strong>\u00a0.<\/p>\n Otherwise, I recommend that you take a look at the modem user’s manual or label attached to the device or side.\u00a0You can also\u00a0rely<\/strong>\u00a0on the\u00a0RouterPassword<\/strong>\u00a0site that, as the same name suggests, groups and lists the access data of all the major modems currently on the market.<\/p>\n To use it, connect to its\u00a0home page<\/strong> and select from the drop-down menu the modem brand in your possession then click the blue\u00a0Find Password<\/strong>\u00a0button.\u00a0You will then be presented with a list of all the major modems and routers models produced by the selected company next to the username \/ password combination to use to access the relevant configuration panel.<\/p>\n Once you have access to the modem, you must locate the section where the settings for the connection security are present.\u00a0Generally they are in\u00a0Wireless (Wi-Fi)<\/b>\u00a0or in\u00a0\u00a0Security<\/b>\u00a0or\u00a0Advanced<\/b>\u00a0but unfortunately, I can not give you more precise indications because the terms differ depending on the brand and model of your device.<\/p>\n For example, if you are using a\u00a0Netgear<\/b>\u00a0wireless modem\u00a0with a\u00a0Genie<\/b>\u00a0interface, to access the section of your device’s configuration panel to manage everything about wireless security settings, you must first click on the\u00a0Advanced tab<\/b>\u00a0located at the top right , then on the\u00a0Installation<\/b>\u00a0item\u00a0located on the left and then on\u00a0Wireless Configuration<\/b>\u00a0.<\/p>\n Now, you should be in front of a screen with details of your Wi-Fi connection generated by your modem and settings on its security.\u00a0The password that protects your WiFi network is that you do not find the\u00a0Key<\/strong>,\u00a0Password,<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0Passphrase <\/strong>entry match.\u00a0Take note and it’s done!<\/p>\n Would you like to connect to a public WiFi network or others?\u00a0Also for this, you may need a password.\u00a0Or, in the case of public Wi-Fi hotspots (eg communal or present in specific parks, premises, etc.), usually the password is either not present or there are clear letters on any billboards in the vicinity of the areas involved or, in the case of paid networks is provided at the time of the outlay (via the web or in cash, depends on
